Professional Services and Standards Division
Lieutenant Samuel Sansone was born and raised in Yonkers, NY. He attended Salesian High School in New Rochelle and during his senior year, moved to Yorktown with his parents and brother. After graduating High School, Lieutenant Sansone attended Sacred Heart University and Pace University. In July of 2004, Lieutenant Sansone was hired by the New York Police Department. Upon graduating from the police academy, he worked in the 46 precinct until June of 2006 when he was hired by the Yorktown Police Department. Upon successful completion of his field training, he was assigned to the Patrol Division. During his time in the patrol division, Lieutenant Sansone worked as both a patrol officer and desk officer. In 2019, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was assigned to oversee a patrol squad, working primarily in the Midnight squad and then the Traffic Unit. In June of 2024, Lieutenant Sansone was reassigned to the Detective Division as the Detective Sergeant. In January of 2025, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and was assigned as the Professional Services and Standards Division Commander. He is tasked with overseeing the Departments body worn camera program, the School Resource Officers and in-service departmental training.
During his time at the Yorktown Police Department, Lieutenant Sansone has been a certified general topics instructor, a defensive tactics instructor, a taser instructor, a member of the Peer Support Team, Crisis Intervention Team. Lt. Sansone oversees the procurement of new ballistic vests for every officer in the department and served two years as the P.B.A. President. He is a member of the Westchester County Police Emerald Society as well as the NYS Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 9. In 2012, Lieutenant Sansone joined the Police Unity Tour Chapter 37 where he raised funds for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial though a 300-mile bike ride from Ground Zero to Washington D.C. After participating in this for numerous years, he and several other Yorktown officers formed Team Yorktown and as a team they were able to raise well over $20,000 in a single year to be donated. Team Yorktown now rides with Honor 37, the New York Division of the Law Enforcement United bike ride, where lieutenant Sansone also serves as a Trustee.
