2023 Total Call Volume by Department Classification
The Yorktown Police Department tracks its annual call volume through the department's Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and computerized Records Management System (RMS). Total call volume is a combination of self-initiated police activity and calls for service. All police activity, regardless of origin, is recorded into the department's computerized blotter system. At the close of 2022, the Yorktown Police Department recorded a total of 41,921 blotter entries, broken down into the categories below.
In addition, the Yorktown Police Department submits its crime data to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), who in turn submits our crime data to the FBI National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS). The Yorktown Police Department, through its various levels of supervision, accreditation audits, external reviews and national guidelines, accurately records and reports all crime data in accordance with state and federal reporting requirements.
Crime statistics can be obtained directly from the DCJS Criminal Justice Statistics page.
