Patrol Division
The Patrol Division is the largest and most prominent division within the department. Uniformed members of the Patrol Division actively patrol the various sectors throughout the Town of Yorktown, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Members of the Patrol Division are responsible for the prevention of crime, protection of life and property and arrest and prosecution of law violators. The Patrol Division is made up of five patrol squads, each led by a squad sergeant.

Lieutenant Mark Rapisarda was raised in Mahopac graduating from Mahopac High School and went on to earn a Bachelors Degree from Fordham University. He started his police career with the New York City Police Department in 1998. After completion of the Police Academy he was assigned to the 49 Precinct to patrol. While in patrol he was assigned to the Conditions Team, combatting quality of life issues in the command. Lieutenant Rapisarda also assisted in the rescue and recovery efforts that took place after the September 11, 2001 Terrorist attack at the World Trade Center. In 2004 he transferred to the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department where he served as an undercover Officer and later in the Patrol Division. Then in 2005 Lieutenant Rapisarda joined the Yorktown Police Department and was assigned to the patrol division.
While assigned to patrol, Lieutenant Rapisarda became a Certified Field Training Officer mentoring and training new hires to the Department. He was later assigned to the newly formed Northern Westchester County Drug Task as a plain clothes Officer. During that time, he worked with other Westchester County Police Departments and Federal agencies combatting the drug epidemic. Lieutenant Rapisarda was later assigned as a liaison to the Real Time Crime Center where he utilized advanced technologies to enhance investigative efforts and sharing of information with all participating agencies in Westchester County to solve crimes.
In 2015, Lieutenant Rapisarda was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to Patrol. In addition to his duties as a Patrol Sergeant he was also assigned to oversee the Field Training Program, the crime initiative Officer and the Departments traffic unit. In 2019 Lieutenant Rapisarda was assigned as the Detective Sergeant overseeing the day-to-day operations and investigations of the Detectives and Juvenile Divisions. Lieutenant Rapisarda also served one year as the Vice President for the P.B.A. During Lieutenant Rapisardas time in the Yorktown Police Department he has earned several awards for Meritorious Police Duty, Excellent Police Duty and a Westchester County Category II Commendable Merit award.
In June 2024, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant as the Professional Services and Standards Lieutenant. In this position, he was tasked with overseeing the implementation of the department's new Body-Worn Camera (BWC) program, as well as supervising School Resource Officers (SROs) and in-service training for the department. As of January 2025, Lieutenant Rapisarda has been reassigned as the Patrol Commander, where he currently oversees the day-to-day operations of the department which include overseeing uniformed patrol, prevention of crime, investigation of criminal activities, apprehension of criminals, protecting life and property and preservation of peace.
