Office of Emergency Management (OEM)
The Yorktown Police Department (YPD) Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is responsible for planning, preparation, mitigation and response to any large-scale event that occurs within- or directly affects the Town of Yorktown. YPD-OEM utilizes an "all hazards" approach to incident management and is ready to assist with any type of incident, including weather related events, large power outages, mass gatherings and visiting dignitary protection. When appropriate, YPD-OEM can utilize the Yorktown Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Click here to read more about the new Yorktown EOC, which opened its doors in early 2015 and stands ready to serve as the temporary nexus of town-wide activity during an emergency.
In additon, YPD-OEM routinely conducts safety, hazard and threat assessments for various entities throughout the Town of Yorktown, including churches, synagogues, childcare facilities, summer camps, Town Hall, the Yorktown Community Cultural Center and many more. YPD-OEM is directed by Sgt. Craig Scatola, who acts as the town's Emergency Management Coordinator, as well as the police department's liaison with the Yorktown Community Emergency Response Team.
