Each year, Yorktown Police officers and detectives receive complaints from victims of fraud, identity theft and other scams.  There is no such thing as a "typical" victim.  Victims in these cases come from every corner of Yorktown and from every walk of life.  The Yorktown Police Department urges all residents to avoid becoming a victim by regularly check the Federal Trade Commission's website in order to keep up to date on the latest information related to fraud, identity theft and scams.

If you do unfortunately find yourself a victim of fraud, identity theft or a scam, please report the incident to both the Yorktown Police Department and the Federal Trade Commission.
