Yorktown Police report the arrest of an 18-year-old Katonah man, who is charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd Degree, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, Reckless driving, an Unclassified Misdemeanor and multiple traffic infractions.
According to police, on March 23, 2023 at approximately 9:13 PM while on routine patrol, Officer Rohr witnessed a vehicle allegedly operating at a high rate of speed on Route 202. Officer Rohr attempted to stop the vehicle, which allegedly unlawfully fled from police officers. It is alleged, the operator of the vehicle then continued driving on route 202 in a reckless manner, by allegedly passing vehicles on the wrong side of the road, disobeying traffic control devices and operating at a high rate of speed. Officer Rohr discontinued the pursuit after determining the operator’s actions were a threat to public safety. NYSP then located the vehicle traveling Southbound on the Taconic State Parkway allegedly in excess of 100 MPH. NYSP conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle after the vehicle had a mechanical breakdown. The driver was identified as the defendant on scene. PO Rohr then responded to the traffic stop. A check of the defendant’s license showed that he was allegedly operating a motor vehicle while his privilege to do so was suspended. The defendant was placed under arrest and was processed on scene for the above charges. Following processing, the defendant was taken into custody by NYSP. The defendant was issued uniform traffic tickets and released on his own recognizance. He is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on April 11, 2023 to answer the above charges. |
