Yorktown Police report the arrest of a thirty-one year old Lake Peekskill woman, who is charged with one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, a Class “A” Misdemeanor.
On January 20, 2019 at about 3:06 pm, Yorktown Police officers responded to the Acme parking lot in Shrub Oak for a report of an infant left unattended in a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located a seven month old child unattended in a parked vehicle. The infant did not appear to be in distress and the officers stayed with the child until its mother returned. After interviewing the child’s mother and conducting an investigation in the store, it is alleged that the defendant left the child unattended for ten minutes while she shopped. The defendant and the child were followed back to Yorktown Police Headquarters, where she was arrested and processed. Yorktown Police made a referral to Child Protective Services and the defendant was subsequently released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on February 19, 2019 at 6:00 pm. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 34 year old Mohegan Lake man, who is charged with Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, a Class "A" Misdemeanor.
According to police, on January 8, 2019 at approximately 1:55 am, Yorktown Police Officers responded to a report of a domestic incident at a Mohegan Lake residence. An investigation at the scene revealed that the male defendant applied pressure to the throat of the female victim with both hands, impeding the victim’s normal breathing. The defendant was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to the Yorktown Police Department for arrest processing. The defendant was processed and arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court by the Honorable Salvatore Lagonia, who set bail at $1,500 and issued a Temporary Order of Protection in favor of the female victim. The defendant posted bail and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on January 17, 2019 at 6:00 pm. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 24 year old Montrose man, who is charged with Driving While Intoxicated, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, While Intoxicated BAC .08% or More, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, Unlicensed Operation in the Third Degree, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, Suspended Registration, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, Fail to Stop for Steady Red Light and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance, both Traffic Infractions.
Police report that on January 7, 2019 at approximately 2:56 AM, Sgt. Sgroi observed a vehicle that allegedly failed to stop for a steady red traffic signal. A traffic stop was initiated and the operator was identified. A computer check at the scene revealed that the defendants driving privilege in New York was allegedly suspended for failure to answer a summons and his vehicle registration was allegedly suspended for an insurance lapse. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to the Yorktown Police Department for arrest processing. Upon arrival at Headquarters, a further investigation revealed that the defendant allegedly operated his vehicle while intoxicated and with a BAC of .08% or more. The defendant was processed on the above charges and released on $100.00 cash bail to a responsible party. He is due back in the Yorktown Justice Court on January 17, 2019 at 6:00 pm. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 28 year old Shrub Oak man, who is charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, a Class “A” Misdemeanor.
On January 1, 2019 at about 8:00 pm, Yorktown Police completed a domestic incident report that had occurred at a Yorktown residence. After completing an investigation, it is alleged that the defendant took a motor vehicle from a family member without that person’s permission. While actively investigating the case, P.O. Battista located the missing vehicle at a residence in Yorktown. Sgt. Rapisarda, P.O. Battista and P.O. Gregorio made contact with the defendant. The officers placed the defendant under arrest and transported him to Yorktown Police headquarters for processing. The defendant was processed on the above charge and was arraigned by the Honorable Salvatore Lagonia, who set bail at $3,000 cash or $5,000 bond. A temporary order of protection was also issued on behalf of the victim. After not being able to post bail, the defendant was remanded to the Westchester County Jail. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on January 8, 2019 at 6:00 pm. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 20 year old Mahopac man, who is charged with Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, a Class “D” Felony, Arson 5th Degree, a Class “A” Misdemeanor and Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree, a Class “B” Misdemeanor.
On September 6, 2018 at about 7:14 am, the Yorktown Police Department responded to a Criminal Mischief/Arson incident at the Shrub Oak town pool on Sunnyside Street. Investigation at the scene revealed that several suspects had entered the pool area overnight and lit a fire, causing more than $39,000 in damage. As a result of an ongoing investigation by the Detective Bureau, several suspects were identified. The first suspect, a 19 year old Carmel man, was arrested following a traffic stop on December 21, 2018. On January 2, 2019 at approximately 10:30 am, Carmel Police, at the scene of a separate traffic stop, recognized the defendant as a person of interest in the arson investigation and contacted Yorktown Police headquarters. P.O. Rohr, P.O. Chaparro and Det. Sage responded to the scene. The second defendant was then placed under arrest and transported to Yorktown Police headquarters for processing. The defendant was processed at the Yorktown Police Department and arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court by the Honorable Salvatore Lagonia. The defendant was released on his own recognizance after arraignment. The defendant is due back in the Yorktown Justice Court on January 8, 2019 at 6:00 pm to answer the charges. |
