Bronx Man Arrested on Multiple Charges Following Pursuit into Putnam County

9/29/2022

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 25-year-old Bronx NY resident, who is charged with Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree, a Class “D” Felony, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree and Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd Degree, both a Class “A” Misdemeanor.  The defendant was additionally charged with Reckless Driving, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, and multiple traffic infractions.

On September 26, 2022 at 4:34 PM, Yorktown Police received a BOLO that a vehicle wanted by the NYPD that was allegedly involved in a felony shots fired investigation was currently traveling north on the Taconic State Parkway approaching Yorktown.  Officer Odar and several other Yorktown Officers responded to the Taconic State Parkway and located the wanted vehicle.  When Officer Odar and the other officers attempted to stop the wanted vehicle, it is alleged that the vehicle fled from them at a high rate of speed.  It is further alleged that a second vehicle operated by the defendant positioned his vehicle between the officers and the wanted vehicle and intentionally obstructed the officers from conducting a stop of the wanted vehicle, which assisted it in fleeing.  It is alleged that the defendant operated his vehicle in a reckless and dangerous manner almost colliding with several of the officers as well as other motorists placing them in grave danger of death, committed a multitude of traffic infractions while doing so, and unlawfully fled from the police officers.

Through a multi-agency combined effort involving the Yorktown Police, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, State Police, Carmel Police, and the Westchester County Police, both vehicles were located in Putnam Valley a short time later.  The driver of the wanted vehicle was arrested by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and the defendant was placed under arrest by the Yorktown Police and transported to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

The defendant was processed on the above charges and arraigned by the Honorable Aviah Cohen-Pierson.  The defendant was released on his own recognizance and is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on September 29, 2022 at 6:00 PM.
