The Yorktown Police Department reports the arrest of a 35 year old Yonkers woman, and a 36 year old Yonkers man, who are both charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated ("Leandra's Law" - child in the vehicle), a Class "E" Felony, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class "A" Misdemeanor, and Improperly Restrained Child (No Seatbelt/Child Safety Seat), a traffic infraction. The female defendant is also charged with Driving While Intoxicated BAC of .08% or More, an Unclassified Misdemeanor and Improper Front License Plate, a traffic infraction. The male defendant was also charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated BAC of .18% or More, as well as Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, an Unclassified Misdemeanor.
On June 28, 2018 at approximately 11:20 pm, Yorktown Police Department officers were dispatched to investigate reports of a possible intoxicated driver, driving erratically with children in the vehicle on Lexington Ave. and Crompond Road, as well as driving southbound in the northbound lane on the Taconic State Parkway. Officers conducted a search for the vehicle, which was subsequently located by PO Racioppo on Crompond Road. Prior to making contact with the suspects, the officer observed the male and female switch seats and both operate the vehicle. After stopping the vehicle and conducting a roadside investigation, it was determined that both suspects were drunk and were driving the vehicle with their five and nine year old children in the car. The male suspect was later charged with Aggravated DWI for having a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .18% or more, and the female was charged with DWI for having a BAC of .08% ore more. Both were charged additionally charged with felony DWI under "Leandra's Law." Other charges stem from the male having a suspended driver's license and for not properly restraining the children with seat belts/booster seats. Both defendants were transported to the Yorktown Police Department for arrest processing and the children were brought there as well. The children were turned over to a responsible party a short time later and Westchester County Child Protective Services was made aware of the incident. On June 29, 2018 at 9:15 am, the defendants were arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court by the Honorable Gary Raniolo. Judge Raniolo issued Temporary Order of Protections on behalf of the children and released each defendant to a responsible party on $1,000 cash bail. Both defendants are scheduled to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on July 12, 2018 at 6:00 pm. Yorktown Police report that a 55 year old Cortlandt Manor man was served with a Criminal Summons for an underlying charge of Harassment 2nd, a Violation.
On April 16, 2018, Yorktown Police responded to the Lakeland Schools Administration Building for a harassment complaint. Yorktown Police Officers and Detectives conducted an investigation. They determined that between January 17, 2018 and June 17, 2018, the defendant left approximately 25 voicemail messages on the victim’s voicemail system that served no legitimate purpose and caused the victim annoyance and alarm. At the victims’ request, a Criminal Summons was obtained from the Yorktown Justice Court for a charge of Harassment 2nd Degree. On June 28, 2018, the summons was served to the defendant by PO Paniccia. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on July 12, 2018 at 6:00 pm. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 19 year old Yorktown man, who is charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a Violation.
According to police, on June 26, 2018 at about 4:15 pm, P.O. Doherty was conducting routine patrol on Friends Road when he made contact with the defendant who was acting suspiciously. PO Doherty conducted an investigation and it is alleged that the defendant was found to be in possession of marijuana. The defendant was arrested at the scene and transported to the Yorktown Police Department for arrest processing. The defendant was issued an appearance ticket and was released on his own recognizance. He is due back in the Yorktown Justice Court on July 26, 2018 at 6:00 pm. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 46 year old Yorktown man, who is charged with Petit Larceny, a Class A Misdemeanor.
On June 26, 2018 at about 7:09 pm, PO Doherty responded to Turco’s for a report of a larceny. It is alleged that the defendant stole a pizza from Turco’s and exited the store without paying for the food. PO Doherty conducted an investigation and the defendant was located in the area and placed under arrest at the request of the store manager. The defendant was transported to the Yorktown Police Department where he was processed on the above charge. The defendant was issued an appearance ticket and released on his own recognizance. The defendant is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on July 26th, 2018 at 6:00 pm to answer the charge. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 52 year old Mohegan Lake man, who is charged with Unlawful Imprisonment, a Class "A" Misdemeanor.
On June 24, 2018 at approximately 5:45 pm, Yorktown Police Headquarters received a trespass complaint at a private Mohegan Lake beach. P.O. Hannigan was dispatched to investigate. Upon arrival, an investigation revealed that the defendant, the beach manager, had a dispute with beach members over their use of the beach. He then changed the lock to the beach access fence, locking several people in the beach area against their will and without allowing them a way to leave. Following the investigation at the scene and at the request of the victims, the defendant was arrested and transported to headquarters for processing. Once at Yorktown Police Headquarters, the defendant was processed on the above charge and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on July 24, 2018 at 6:00 pm. |
