Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 30 year old Bronx man, who is charged with Operating with a Suspended Registration and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree, both an Unclassified Misdemeanor. The defendant was additionally charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle without a Driver’s License, Uninspected Motor Vehicle and Speed in Zone, all Traffic Infractions.
According to Police, on November 1, 2022 at approximately 1:18 PM, Officer Curtis received notification from the LPR System that a vehicle allegedly entered the Taconic State Parkway Southbound with a suspended registration. Officer Curtis then canvassed the area and located the vehicle matching the description which also was allegedly operating above the posted speed limit. Officer Curtis performed a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the defendant as the driver. After an investigation at the scene, it was determined that the defendant was allegedly operating the motor vehicle while the registration was suspended for a dishonored check. It is further alleged that the defendant was also operating an uninspected motor vehicle, while his driving privilege was suspended in New York. He was placed under arrest and processed on scene. The defendant was issued UTTs and released on his own recognizance. The defendant is scheduled to answer said charges in the Yorktown Justice Court on November 17, 2022 at 6:00 PM. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 46 year old Jamaica, NY resident, who is charged with Grand Larceny in the 2nd Degree, a Class “C” Felony.
On October 15, 2022 at about 3:25 PM, Yorktown Police were called to a business on Saw Mill River Rd. to investigate a larceny complaint. Officer Curtin was dispatched and met with the victim, who reported that $42,000 in cash and $10,000 in payroll checks had been stolen from his vehicle, which was parked in the parking lot of the business. Through an investigation by Officer Curtin, Officer Hannigan and members of the Yorktown Police Detective Division, they were able to identify an unknown suspect and an associated vehicle that allegedly were involved in the larceny. On October 28, 2022 at about 6:00 PM, officers from the Colony Police Department in the Albany area conducted a vehicle & traffic law stop on the vehicle that was associated with the Yorktown larceny. Through an investigation by the Yorktown Police Department and the Colony Police Department, one of the vehicle’s occupants was positively identified as the suspect from the alleged larceny. The defendant was taken into custody by Colony Police and subsequently turned over to Officer Hannigan and Officer Campion, who transported the defendant back to Yorktown Police Headquarters. The defendant was processed on the above charge and arraigned by the Honorable Aviah Cohen-Pierson. The defendant was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash, $125,000 bond, or $250,000 partially secured bond. The defendant is due to appear at the Yorktown Justice Court on November 10, 2022 at 6:00 pm. |
