Yorktown Man Charged with Assault, Menacing with a Weapon After Domestic Incident

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 22 year old Yorktown man who is charged with Assault in the 3rd Degree and Menacing in the 2nd Degree, both Class "A" Misdemeanors.
 
On January 23, 2018 at about 7:45 pm the Yorktown Police Department responded to a report of a domestic incident at a Yorktown residence involving a physical altercation.  Officer Beyrer responded and conducted an investigation.  After completing his investigation, it is alleged that the defendant did strike the victim in the face and body as well as kick the victim in the back causing injury to the victim.  It is further alleged that during the incident the defendant grabbed a kitchen knife and a hammer while threatening to stab the victim, causing the victim to be in fear for his safety.
 
The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to the Yorktown Police Department.  He was processed on the above charges and was arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court by the Honorable Salvatore Lagonia where a Temporary Order of Protection was issued on behalf of the victim and defendant was remanded to Westchester County Jail on $15,000 bail.  The defendant is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on January 25, 2018 at 6:00 pm.

Croton-On-Hudson Woman Arrested After Trying to Take Child from Pre-School Classroom

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 49 year old Croton-On-Hudson, who is charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class "A" Misdemeanor.
 
On January 22, 2018 at approximately 10:49 AM, Yorktown Police received a 911 call from the Yorktown Presbyterian Church for a report of an unknown woman who tried to remove a child from a pre-school classroom.  Upon arrival at the scene, the woman was located and detained for investigation.  After further investigation, police allege that the defendant, who is not a relative, entered a pre-school classroom and attempted to take a child out of the arms of a teacher without having the right to do so.  The defendant was arrested on the above charge.
 
The defendant was arraigned by the Honorable Salvatore Lagonia who remanded her to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail.  She is due back in Yorktown court on February 6, 2018 at 6:00 pm.

K-9 Unit Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 24 year old Fishkill, NY resident, who is charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana Fifth Degree, a Class "B" Misdemeanor.
 
According to police, on January 17, 2018, at approximately 10:06 pm, Officer Beyrer and his K-9 Partner "Dallas" were on routine patrol on Route 6.  Officer Beyrer observed a vehicle that was travelling above the posted speed limit on Route 6 and a traffic stop was conducted.  After making contact with the driver and passenger, Officer Beyrer began conducting an investigation into possible marijuana possession.  K-9 "Dallas" was deployed and quickly located a quantity of marijuana in excess of 25 grams that was concealed in the vehicle.  The passenger was arrested and transported to the Yorktown Police Department for processing on the above charges.
 
Following processing, the defendant was released on $100.00 cash bail.  The defendant is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on February 15th, 2018 at 6:00 pm.

License Plate Reader Alerts Officer to Commercial Vehicle with Suspended Registration

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 42 year old Lagrangeville, New York man, who is charged with Suspended Registration, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, and Operating Without Insurance, a Traffic Infractions.
 
On January 15, 2018 at about 10:15 am, Officer Peters was on routine patrol on Crompond Rd. operating a marked patrol vehicle equipped with an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR).  The ALPR alerted Officer Peters that a commercial vehicle traveling in the opposite direction allegedly had a suspended registration.  A traffic stop was conducted and the vehicle’s operator was identified as the defendant.  It is alleged that the defendant was operating the vehicle while the registration was suspended for insurance not in effect.  It is also alleged that the defendant was operating without insurance.
 
The defendant was transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on February 15, 2018 at 6:00 pm.

Mohegan Lake Holiday Package Thief Additionally Charged with Possession of Stolen Property

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 24 year old Mohegan Lake resident who is charged with three counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree, all Class "A" Misdemeanors.
 
According to the Yorktown Police Department, members of the Detective Division have been conducting an on-going investigation of package thefts from multiple residences in the Mohegan Lake area during the December holiday season. As part of that investigation, Det. Sage was able to locate and identify the defendant responsible for stealing the packages and a search warrant was obtained for the defendant’s residence.  After the execution of the search warrant, additional stolen property was recovered, leading to the additional three counts of possession of stolen property.
 
On January 11, 2018 the defendant appeared in Yorktown Justice Court for a scheduled court appearance from the previous charges.  He was brought to Yorktown Police Headquarters and charged with the three counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.  The defendant was arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court by the Honorable Gary Raniolo, held on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear back in the Yorktown Justice Court on January 25, 2018 at 6:00 pm.
