Mohegan Lake Holiday Package Thief Additionally Charged with Possession of Stolen Property1/15/2018
Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 24 year old Mohegan Lake resident who is charged with three counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree, all Class "A" Misdemeanors.
According to the Yorktown Police Department, members of the Detective Division have been conducting an on-going investigation of package thefts from multiple residences in the Mohegan Lake area during the December holiday season. As part of that investigation, Det. Sage was able to locate and identify the defendant responsible for stealing the packages and a search warrant was obtained for the defendant’s residence. After the execution of the search warrant, additional stolen property was recovered, leading to the additional three counts of possession of stolen property. On January 11, 2018 the defendant appeared in Yorktown Justice Court for a scheduled court appearance from the previous charges. He was brought to Yorktown Police Headquarters and charged with the three counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. The defendant was arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court by the Honorable Gary Raniolo, held on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear back in the Yorktown Justice Court on January 25, 2018 at 6:00 pm.
