Queens Man Arrested After Trying to Steal $8,800 Through Fake Bail Phone Scam

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 42 year old Queens resident, who is charged with Attempted Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a Class “E” Felony.
 
Yorktown Police report that on September 25, 2019 at about 3:07 pm, they received a complaint from a Yorktown resident reporting that he had just received a scam phone call alleging that a family member had been arrested and would only be released upon $8,800 bail being paid to a courier.
 
PO Premuto, Det. Swart and Sgt. Rapisarda were assigned to investigate. Follow up phone conversations with the caller arranged for the courier to receive the money from the victim at the residence.   At approximately 7:15 pm, the defendant arrived at the victim’s residence and received a package believing it contained the currency.  The defendant was quickly apprehended by the Yorktown Police Department officers and transported to the Yorktown Police Headquarters for arrest processing.
 
The defendant was arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court by the Honorable Salvatore Lagonia on September 26th, 2019 at 1230 hours.  The defendant was subsequently remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on October 1, 2019 at 6:00 pm.

2 14 Year Olds Charged With Juvenile Delinquency

Yorktown Police report the arrest of two 14 year old male residents of Yorktown, New York. One subject is charged with Juvenile Delinquency, the underlying charge if committed by an adult being Attempted Assault 3rd Degree, a Class B Misdemeanor. The other subject is charged with Juvenile Delinquency, the underlying charges if committed by an adult being Attempted Assault 3rd Degree, a Class B Misdemeanor, and Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.
 
On August 28, 2019, at about 9:50 AM Yorktown Police received a report of an attempted assault that had just occurred on East Main St. Officer Tillistrand responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. At the conclusion of that investigation two juveniles were identified as being involved in the incident.  Juvenile #1 attempted to assault the victim by striking and kicking him and he intentionally damaged the victim’s cell phone.  Juvenile #2 attempted to assault the victim by striking and kicking him. Both juveniles were contacted and responded to Yorktown Police Headquarters with a parent at separate times.
 
On September 9, 2019, at 8:24 PM Juvenile #2 was charged with Juvenile Delinquency, the underlying charge if committed by an adult being Attempted Assault 3rd Degree, a Class B Misdemeanor.
 
On September 12, 2019, at 3:24 PM Juvenile #1 was charged with Juvenile Delinquency, the underlying charges if committed by an adult being Attempted Assault 3rd Degree, a Class B Misdemeanor, and Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.
 
Following processing on the above charges, the juveniles were each issued a Family Court Appearance Ticket and released to the custody of a parent.
 
They are due to appear before the Westchester County Family Court on September 24, 2019, at 10:00 AM. 

3 Arrested For Driving Under The Influence In 2 Days

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 33 year old female resident of Mahopac NY, who is charged with Driving While Ability Impaired, Speed in Zone and Failure to Maintain Lane, all Traffic Infractions. She is additionally charged with Resisting Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor.
 
Police report that on September 11, 2019 at approximately 10:10 PM, P.O. Rana observed a vehicle that was speeding and failing to maintain the designated lane of travel.  A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation at the scene revealed that she was driving while ability impaired. She then resisted arrest by attempting to run into traffic and failed to comply with police orders. She was ultimately placed under arrest and transported to the Yorktown Police Department for arrest processing.
 
Upon arrival at headquarters, she was processed on the above charges and released on her own recognizance to a responsible third party. She is due back in the Yorktown Justice Court on September 24, 2019 at 6:00pm

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 23 year old female from Yorktown, who is charged with Driving While Intoxicated 1st Offense and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated Per Se with No Prior Convictions, which are both Unclassified Misdemeanors, as well as Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Auto Accident, a Traffic Infraction.
 
According to police on September 13, 2019, at about 5:30 PM Yorktown Police received a report of a one vehicle accident that occurred on Edgewater St. The vehicle involved reportedly was leaving the scene. Officer Rohr responded to the scene and met with the caller who witnessed the accident. An investigation was conducted during which the vehicle involved in the accident was identified and located nearby on Underhill Ave. The female was located and identified as the  being the driver of the vehicle. At the completion of the investigation at the scene it was determined that she was driving while intoxicated and left the scene of a property damage auto accident. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Yorktown Police Department for processing. Upon the completion of a breath test at Yorktown Police Headquarters it was revealed that she had a .18% BAC.
 
Following processing on the above charges she was issued uniform traffic tickets and released on her own recognizance. She is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on September 24, 2019, at 6:00 PM.

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 58 year old male from Yorktown, who is charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated Per Se 1 Prior Conviction, and Driving While Intoxicated with Previous Conviction in the Last 10 Years, which are both Class E Felonies.
 
According to police on September 13, 2019, at about 9:58 PM a passing motorist reported a disabled vehicle stopped in the road on Underhill Ave. Officer Rohr responded to the scene and located the vehicle and the  driver who was identified as the defendant. Subsequent to an investigation at the scene it was determined that the male was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Yorktown Police Department for processing. After a breath test was completed at the Yorktown Police Department and a check of the male’s DMV history was conducted, it was determined that the male had at BAC of .19% and also had 1 previous conviction for Driving While Intoxicated within the last 10 years.
 
Following processing on the above charges he was issued an Appearance Ticket and released on his own recognizance. He is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on September 24, 2019, at 6:00 PM

Warrant Arrest

Yorktown Police report the arrest of 23 year Yonkers, NY resident on an Arrest Warrant issued for Grand Larceny, a Class E Felony and Petit Larceny a Class A Misdemeanor.
 
According to Police, on September 22, 2018 and September 29, 2018, Det. Davis was assigned to investigate two separate larcenies that occurred at CVS on Commerce Street.  An investigation at the scene revealed that on September 22, 2018 the defendant allegedly stole $2,085.31 worth of merchandise and on September 29, 2018 the defendant allegedly stole $965.95 worth of merchandise.  Det. Davis made several attempts to contact the Defendant in regards to the incident and he was uncooperative.  A warrant was applied for and issued by Yorktown Court on February 6, 2019 for his arrest.  On September 6, 2019 PO Caprio and PO Lizarzaburu responded to Dobbs Ferry PD where the defendant was being held.  He was placed under arrest and transported back to Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing.
 
The defendant was processed on the above charges and arraigned by the Honorable Judge Lagonia who set bail $5,000 bond or $2,5000 cash.  The defendant could not make bail and was remanded back to Westchester County Jail.  He is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on September 10, 2019 at 06:00 PM.

Larceny Arrest

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 34 year old Putnam Valley, NY resident who is charged with Petit Larceny, a Class A Misdemeanor.
 
According to police on August 31, 2019 at about 9:55 PM, Officer Caprio and Officer Lizarzaburu responded to Acme Supermarket for a report of a shoplifter in custody. After completing an investigation on the scene it is alleged that the defendant stole merchandise valuing $95.11. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.
 
Following processing on the above charge the defendant was issued an appearance ticket and released on his own recognizance. The defendant is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on September 26, 2019 at 6:00 PM.
