Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 42 year old Queens resident, who is charged with Attempted Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a Class “E” Felony.
Yorktown Police report that on September 25, 2019 at about 3:07 pm, they received a complaint from a Yorktown resident reporting that he had just received a scam phone call alleging that a family member had been arrested and would only be released upon $8,800 bail being paid to a courier. At approximately 7:15 pm, the defendant arrived at the victim’s residence and received a package believing it contained the currency. The defendant was quickly apprehended by the Yorktown Police Department officers and transported to the Yorktown Police Headquarters for arrest processing. The defendant was arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court by the Honorable Salvatore Lagonia on September 26th, 2019 at 1230 hours. The defendant was subsequently remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on October 1, 2019 at 6:00 pm.
