K9 Spar Locates Large Quantity of Cocaine Following Traffic Stop

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 49 year old Mount Kisco man and a 29 year old Peekskill woman, both of whom are charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, a Class "B" Felony.  Additional, the male defendant is charged with Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree, a Class "A" Misdemeanor, and Failing to Yield Right of Way, a Traffic Infraction.

According to police, on March 14, 2020 at around 11:45 pm, Yorktown Police Officer Premuto was on routine patrol in the area of Route 6 and the Taconic State Parkway.  PO Premuto observed a vehicle fail to yield the right of way by making a prohibited right turn off of the Taconic State Parkway exit ramp onto Route 6. Officer Premuto conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle on Lee Blvd. and identified the driver as the male defendant and the passenger as the female defendant.  Further investigation at the scene was conducted, which included calling PO Campion and his partner, K9 Spar.  K9 Spar, one of two Yorktown Police K9s certified in drug detection, quickly located a large quantity of Cocaine that was possessed by both defendants, as well as drug paraphernalia that was possessed by the male defendant.  Both defendants were placed under arrest and transported to the Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing.
 
Following processing on the above charges the defendants were arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court by the Honorable Salvatore Lagonia.  The male defendant was remanded to the Westchester County Jail, as he was charged with a Felony and had two or more prior Felony Convictions.  The female defendant was released on her own recognizance.  Both defendants are due back in Yorktown Justice Court on April 7, 2020 at 6:00 pm.

Norwalk Man Arrested Following Domestic Incident

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 50 year-old Norwalk, CT resident who is charged with Criminal Mischief in the 3rd degree, a class “E” Felony and Assault in the 3rd degree, a class “A” Misdemeanor.
 
On 03/10/2020 at approximately 8:33 AM, Officers responded to a residence in Yorktown to investigate a report of a domestic dispute between contractors working inside the home.  Police conducted an investigation and it is alleged that the suspect grabbed the victim and punched the victim in the face causing pain and a physical injury. It is also alleged that during the domestic dispute that the defendant took one phone from the victim and threw it causing damage.  The defendant was arrested at the scene and transported to the  Yorktown Police Department for processing.
 
The defendant was processed on the above charge and arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court by the Honorable Judge Lagonia. The defendant was issued a temporary order of protection, protecting the victim and released on his own recognizance.  The defendant is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on  March 17, 2020 at 6:00 PM.

Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 32 year-old Shrub Oak, NY resident who is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree, a Class “D” Felony, and a cracked windshield, a Traffic Infraction.
 
According to police on March 9, 2020 at approximately 4:38 PM Officer Campion was on routine patrol on Illington Rd when he observed a vehicle which allegedly had a cracked windshield. Officer Campion conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and identified the defendant as the driver. Following a subsequent investigation it is alleged that the defendant was operating a vehicle with a cracked windshield. Additionally, it is alleged that the defendant was unlawfully in possession of a quantity of Cocaine. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.
 
Following processing the defendant was arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court and released on his own recognizance. The defendant is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on March 24, 2020 at 6:00 PM.

Identity Theft Arrest

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 42 year-old Brookfield, CT resident who is charged with Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree and Identity Theft in the 1st Degree, both class “D” felonies.
 
Police report that on 01/01/2020 at about 10:26 AM, PO Battista responded to the Yorktown Police Department for an identity theft and larceny complaint.  An investigation revealed that the defendant allegedly stole cash and credit cards from the victim’s residence and made unauthorized purchases totaling $25,007.38 between June 1st, 2019 and January 1st, 2020.  On 03/10/2020 at approximately 3:00 PM the defendant voluntarily responded to the Yorktown Police Department and was placed under arrest for the above charges at 3:29 PM.
 
The defendant was transported to the Yorktown Police Department for arrest processing.   On 03/10/2020 at 7:00 PM the defendant was arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court by the Honorable Judge Lagonia.  The defendant was served a temporary order of protection on the victims behalf and released on his own recognizance.  The defendant is scheduled to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on 03/24/2020 at 6:00 PM.

Traffic Stop on Quinlan St Leads to Arrest

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 27 year-old Peekskill, NY resident who is charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, as well as, Unlicensed Operator, Inadequate Brake Light, and Speed in Zone, all Traffic Infractions.
 
According to police on March 11, 2020 at approximately 1035 hours Officer DiPietrantonio was conducting a traffic safety detail on Quinlan Street when he observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed. Based on his radar unit the vehicle was allegedly travelling at 53 mph in a 30 mph zone. Officer DiPietrantonio conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and also observed that the vehicle allegedly had an inadequate brake light. Officer DiPietrantonio contacted the driver of the vehicle and identified him as the defendant. A DMV check of the defendant’s license showed that he was allegedly operating a vehicle while his privilege to do so was suspended and he was allegedly operating a vehicle while unlicensed.
 
The defendant was placed under arrest and processed at the scene. Following processing the defendant was issued traffic tickets for the above charges and released on his own recognizance. The defendant is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on March 31, 2020 at 6:00 PM.
