K9 "Dallas" Assists Officers in Locating a Concealed Quantity of Cocaine Following Traffic Stop11/29/2018
Yorktown Police report the arrest of thirty-one year old Yorktown man, who is charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd Degree, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, Speed in Zone and Uninspected Motor Vehicle, both Traffic Infractions, and a thirty-one year old Mahopac man, who is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, a Class “D” Felony.
Officer Racioppo was on routine patrol on Stony St. when he observed a vehicle allegedly traveling above the posted speed limit. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver of the vehicle was identified as the thirty-one year old Yorktown man. A routine driver’s license inquiry revealed that the man's driver’s license was allegedly suspended and the vehicle he was operating did not have a valid New York State safety inspection. PO Beyrer and his K9 partner “Dallas” were called to the scene to assist with the investigation. K9 “Dallas” conducted a search of the vehicle and located a concealed quantity of cocaine. A passenger in the vehicle, a thirty-one year old Mahopac man, was subsequently arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree. Both defendants were transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters where they were processed on their respective charges. The driver was issued an appearance ticket and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on December 18, 2018 at 6:00 pm. The passenger was held overnight and arraigned by the Honorable Gary Raniolo. He was later released on $2,500 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on November 27, 2018 at 6:00 pm. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a a 46 year old Yorktown man, who is charged with Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree, a class "E" Felony, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a Violation.
On November 28, 2018 at about 4:00 pm, Sgt. Kolkmann, PO Doherty, PO Caprio and PO Campion were dispatched for an altercation in progress at the Gulf Gas Station located at 2001 commerce Street. Following an investigation, it was determined that a 46 year old Yorktown man intentionally damaged a vehicle by throwing a rock at it causing damage in the amount of $750. The defendant was placed under arrest at the scene and found to be in possession of marijuana as well. He was transported to the Yorktown Police Department for processing. The defendant was processed at the Yorktown Police Department and arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court by the Honorable Salvatore Lagonia. An Order of Protection was issued protecting the victims and the defendant was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail. The defendant is due back in the Yorktown Justice Court on December 4, 2018 at 6:00 pm. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a twenty-eight year old Katonah man, who is charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle on an Electronic Device - No Hands Free, Unlicensed Operator and Unregistered Motor Vehicle, all Traffic Infractions, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd Degree, an Unclassified Misdemeanor.
On November 24, 2018 at about 9:30 am, Officer Curtin was on routine patrol on East Main St. (Route 6) in the Mohegan Lake Business District. Officer Curtin observed a driver allegedly talking on a cell phone while driving and conducted a traffic stop. The operator of the vehicle was identified by name and a routine DMV check revealed that his driving privilege was suspended in New York State. Further investigation revealed that the driver was driving without a driver’s license and the vehicle was unregistered. The driver was arrested at the scene and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing. The defendant was subsequently processed on the above charges and released on $100 cash bail. He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on January 3, 2019 at 6:00 pm. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a nineteen year old Mohegan Lake man, who is charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a Violation, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd Degree, an Unclassified Misdemeanor.
On November 18, 2018 at about 11:18 am, Officer David was on routine patrol of the Mohegan Park Jewish Center on Decatur Rd. While checking the Jewish Center, Officer David observed a suspicious occupied vehicle parked at the end of Decatur Rd. After conducting an investigation of the vehicle, it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle was in possession of a quantity of marijuana. A check of the defendant's driver’s license also revealed that his driving privilege was suspended in New York State for failing to answer a summons. The defendant was arrested at the scene and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters. The defendant was subsequently processed on the above charges and released on $100 cash bail. He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on December 13, 2018 at 6:00 pm. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 31 year old Poughkeepsie man, who is charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, Inadequate Brake Lamps, Speed in Zone and Uninspected Motor Vehicle, all Traffic Infractions.
On November 15, 2018 at 10:30 am, P.O. Woodard was on routine patrol when he observed a speeding car and conducted a traffic stop on Croton Lake Road (Route 129). The driver of the vehicle was identified via a New York State Non-Drivers ID card. A routine license check was conducted, which revealed that the defendant's driving privilege was suspended 4 times (4 on 2 dates) for failing to answer a summons, as well being revoked for three speeding violations or misdemeanors in 18 months. It is also alleged that the motor vehicle the defendant was operating was not inspected and did not have adequate brake lights. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to Yorktown Police Department for processing. The defendant was processed and released on $150.00 cash bail. He is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on December 13, 2018 at 6:00 pm to answer the charges. |
