K9 "Dallas" Assists Officers in Locating a Concealed Quantity of Cocaine Following Traffic Stop11/29/2018
Yorktown Police report the arrest of thirty-one year old Yorktown man, who is charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd Degree, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, Speed in Zone and Uninspected Motor Vehicle, both Traffic Infractions, and a thirty-one year old Mahopac man, who is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, a Class “D” Felony.
Officer Racioppo was on routine patrol on Stony St. when he observed a vehicle allegedly traveling above the posted speed limit. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver of the vehicle was identified as the thirty-one year old Yorktown man. A routine driver’s license inquiry revealed that the man's driver’s license was allegedly suspended and the vehicle he was operating did not have a valid New York State safety inspection. PO Beyrer and his K9 partner “Dallas” were called to the scene to assist with the investigation. K9 “Dallas” conducted a search of the vehicle and located a concealed quantity of cocaine. A passenger in the vehicle, a thirty-one year old Mahopac man, was subsequently arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree. Both defendants were transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters where they were processed on their respective charges. The driver was issued an appearance ticket and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on December 18, 2018 at 6:00 pm. The passenger was held overnight and arraigned by the Honorable Gary Raniolo. He was later released on $2,500 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on November 27, 2018 at 6:00 pm. Comments are closed.
