Yorktown Man Charged with Assault After Punching Victim

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 20-year-old Yorktown man, who is charged with Assault in the 3rd Degree, a Class “A” Misdemeanor.
 
According to police, on February 27, 2021 at approximately 11:07 pm, Yorktown Police were dispatched to investigate an assault complaint.  Following an investigation by Officer Madaus, it is alleged that the defendant caused a physical injury to a victim by punching him in the face.  On March 26, 2021 at 2:10 pm, the defendant voluntarily surrendered and was placed under arrest for assault.
 
The defendant was arraigned on the above charge by the Honorable Gary Raniolo.  A Temporary Order of Protection was issued on behalf of the victim and the defendant was released on his own recognizance.  The defendant was instructed to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on April 6, 2021 at 6:00 pm.

Peekskill Man Charged with Illegally Dumping Furniture in Cul-De-Sac

Yorktown Police report serving a Criminal Summons to a 41 year old Peekskill man,  who is charged with Dumping, a Town Code Violation.
 
On February 2, 2021, P.O. Battista was on patrol when he observed a large broken desk which had been dumped at the end of Decatur Rd.  Following an investigation by the officer, a suspect was identified, and a Criminal Summons was applied for and received by the Yorktown Justice Court.
 
On March 21, 2021, the defendant responded to Yorktown Police Headquarters and P.O. Battista served the defendant the criminal summons for the above charge.  The defendant was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to answer the summons on April 13, 2021.

Peekskill Man Arrested on Probation Warrant Following Parking Lot Domestic

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 37 year old Peekskill man, who is charged with Violation of Probation, a Violation.
 
According to Police, on March 19, 2021 at approximately 11:21 am, P.O. David and PO Rohr were dispatched to the Triangle Shopping Center for a report of a domestic incident.  Upon arrival, PO David made contact with the defendant and began his investigation.  A routine check revealed that the defendant allegedly had an outstanding warrant for violating probation out of Westchester County.  P.O. David confirmed the warrant with the Westchester County Department of Public Safety.  The male was placed under arrest and brought to the Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing.  The Westchester County Department of Public Safety arrived at Yorktown Police Headquarters a short time later and took the defendant into custody.

Bronx Man Charged with Driving Stolen Tesla

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 50 year old Bronx man, who is charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree, a Class "E" Felony. 
 
On March 15, 2021 at approximately 10:15 am, Officer Kaen was on patrol and advised of a possible stolen vehicle traveling northbound on the Taconic State Parkway.  Lt. Foley, Officer Kaen and multiple other Yorktown Police Officers responded to the area and located a vehicle matching the description.  A traffic stop was initiated on the Taconic State Parkway, in the vicinity of Route 132, and the operator was identified as the defendant.  Following an investigation, it is alleged that the defendant was in possession of a  2016 Tesla that had been reported stolen in New York City.  The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters.
 
The defendant was processed at Police Headquarters on the above charge and released on his own recognizance.  He is scheduled to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on April 1, 2021 at 6:00 pm.

Yorktown Man Arrested in Connection with Fatal Accident on Route 6

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 45 year old Yorktown man, who is charged with Leaving Scene of An Accident Resulting in Death, a Class "D" Felony.
 
On March 10, 2021 at 7:00 pm, Yorktown Police received multiple reports of a subject lying in the roadway on Route 6.  Officers were dispatched to the scene and determined the subject had been struck by a vehicle.  The preliminary investigation determined that an unknown vehicle traveling eastbound on Route 6, between Sunnyside Street and Barger Street, struck the victim and left the scene of the accident.  The victim was declared deceased at the scene.
 
An investigation was immediately begun by the Yorktown Police Department that continued into March 11th.  Information of a possible suspect vehicle was developed and investigators were able to identify a license plate number for this vehicle.  At about 3:00 pm on March 11th, investigators went to the suspect's residence where they allegedly located the parked vehicle.  Investigators made contact with the  suspect and he agreed to responded to Yorktown Police Headquarters for an interview. Following the interview, the defendant was placed under arrest for allegedly leaving the scene of the fatal accident that occurred the night before.  The suspect's vehicle was seized as evidence.
 
The defendant was arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court by the Honorable Salvatore Lagonia and released on his own recognizance.  The defendant is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on March 16, 2021 at 6:00 pm.
