Yorktown Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on Route 6 in the area of Sunnyside St. at approximately 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 10, 2021. On March 10, 2021 at around 7:00 pm, the Yorktown Police Department received several reports of a subject lying in the roadway on Route 6. Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene and determined that the subject had been struck by a vehicle. The preliminary investigation has determined that a vehicle traveling eastbound on Route 6, between Sunnyside St. and Barger St., struck the victim and left the scene of the accident. The victim, who has been identified as 40 year old Demetrios Doupis of Yorktown Heights, New York, was declared deceased at the scene. Investigation into the crash is being conducted by the Yorktown Police Department Accident Investigation Unit, with assistance from the Westchester County Department of Public Safety Accident Investigation Unit. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 23 year old Cortlandt man, who is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, a Class "A" Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, a Violation.
According to Police, on March 10, 2021 at approximately 1:33 am, P.O. Uhl was on patrol conducting a business check of the McDonald's Restaurant on Crompond Road when he observed an occupied vehicle, parked and running in the parking lot. P.O. Uhl went to check on the driver, who he identified as the defendant, to make sure he was not in need of any assistance. While speaking to the defendant, P.O. Uhl observed a clear plastic bag allegedly containing marijuana on the front passenger seat. An investigation was conducted at the scene, which revealed that the defendant had an active warrant out of the City of Peekskill. Further investigation revealed that the defendant allegedly had a quantity of alprazolam (Xanax) pills in a clear plastic bag in the waist band of his pants. The defendant was subsequently arrested at the scene and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters for arrest processing. The defendant was processed on the above charges and released on his own recognizance with an appearance ticket. He was then taken into custody by Peekskill Police on the outstanding arrest warrant. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on March 25, 2021 at 6:00 pm. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 19 year old Shrub Oak man, who is charged with Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree, a Class "E" Felony.
On February 28, 2021 at about 12:00 am, Yorktown Police responded to the Westminster Rd. in the Canterbury Crossing community for a past criminal mischief complaint. Officer David conducted an investigation and it is alleged that the defendant intentionally damaged a vehicle window and tail light by striking it with a wooden stick, causing damage in the amount of $1,000. On March 4, 2021, the defendant was contacted and arrested outside his residence and transported to the Yorktown Police Department for arrest processing. Following processing on the above charge, the defendant was released on his own recognizance. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on March 18, 2021 at 6:00 pm. Yorktown Man Charged with Unlawful Fleeing, Drug Possession After Running from Traffic Stop3/3/2021
Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 21 year old Yorktown man, who is charged with Unlawful Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, both Class “A” Misdemeanors, Reckless Driving, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a Violation, and multiple traffic infractions.
On March 1, 2021 at about 9:40 pm, Officer Hannigan was on patrol on Route 6 when he observed a vehicle allegedly drive onto the shoulder. Officer Hannigan attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the vehicle by activating his lights and sirens, however, the vehicle allegedly did not stop and began fleeing at a high rate of speed while crossing the double yellow line, disregarding a stop sign, and committing several other traffic infractions in a manner that unreasonably endangered other motorists. The vehicle finally came to a stop, at which time Officer Hannigan identified the driver as the defendant. At the conclusion of an investigation at the scene, it is further alleged that the defendant was in possession of a controlled substance and a quantity of marijuana. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing. The defendant was issued multiple traffic tickets, an appearance ticket, and was subsequently released on his own recognizance. The defendant is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on March 18, 2021 at 6:00 pm. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 15 year old, a 16 year old, a 17 year old and an 18 year old, all from Yorktown, and a 16 year old from Peekskill, who are charged with Robbery in the Second Degree, a Class “C” Felony.
According to police, on February 27, 2020 at approximately 7:59 pm, Yorktown Police received a report from an individual reporting that he was threatened with firearm in the parking lot of 2026 Saw Mill River Road. Following an investigation, it is alleged that one of the defendants arranged to meet the victim in order to sell a vape pen. It is further alleged that the defendants, while aiding, abetting & acting in concert, did steal $20.00 from the victim, while displaying what appeared to be a black handgun. Following further investigation, five suspects were identified and a replica Glock 17 CO2 Air Soft pistol was recovered. The defendants were contacted and responded to Yorktown Police Headquarters, where they were each placed under arrest on the above Robbery charge. Each defendant was later arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court by the Honorable Salvatore Lagonia, who issued a Temporary Order of Protection and released each defendant on their own recognizance to their respective parents. The 15 year old, 16 year old's, and 17 year old are each due to appear in the Felony Youth Part of the Westchester County Family Court on March 1, 2021 at 9:00 am. The 18 year old defendant was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on March 4, 2021 at 6:oo pm. |
