Yorktown Police Seeking Public Information on Fatal Hit & Run

Yorktown Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on Route 6 in the area of Sunnyside St. at approximately 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.

On March 10, 2021 at around 7:00 pm, the Yorktown Police Department received several reports of a subject lying in the roadway on Route 6.  Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene and determined that the subject had been struck by a vehicle.  The preliminary investigation has determined that a vehicle traveling eastbound on Route 6, between Sunnyside St. and Barger St., struck the victim and left the scene of the accident.  The victim, who has been identified as 40 year old Demetrios Doupis of Yorktown Heights, New York, was declared deceased at the scene.

Investigation into the crash is being conducted by the Yorktown Police Department Accident Investigation Unit, with assistance from the Westchester County Department of Public Safety Accident Investigation Unit.
