Gas Station Cigarette Bandit Charged with Robbery

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a a twenty nine year old male from Wurtsboro, New York, who is charged with Robbery 2nd Degree, a Class "C" Felony, and two counts of Petit Larceny, a Class "A" Misdemeanor.
 
On September 22, 2018 at approximately 8:45 AM Sgt. Dillon, P.O. Guilbert and P.O. Woodard responded to a report of a larceny of cigarettes that had just occurred from the Shell gas station on Commerce Street. While enroute, the officers were advised that the suspect had fled the scene on foot and was running on Kear Street. Upon arrival, officers located the defendant, who was still attempting to flee from the gas station attendant and a good Samaritan.

The defendant was arrested for Robbery in the 2nd degree. It is alleged that the defendant did forcibly steal cigarettes from the gas station attendant and while in the immediate flight from the scene of the crime, caused a physical injury to the good Samaritan. During processing at police headquarters, further investigation was conducted into previous larcenies of cigarettes. It is also alleged that on September 13, 2018 the defendant stole a carton of cigarettes from the Gulf gas station located at 2001 Commerce Street. It is additionally alleged that the defendant stole a carton of cigarettes on September 21, 2018 from Sunoco located at 3911 Crompond Road.
 
The defendant was processed at police headquarters on the above charges, arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court on September 22, 2018 at 8:00 pm. Bail was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. The defendant was remanded to Westchester County Jail in lieu of bail or bond.  He is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on September 25, 2018 at 6:00 pm.

Bronx Woman Charged with Heroin Possession

Yorktown Police a 27 year old Bronx woman, who they charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, a Class "A" Misdemeanor.
 
According to Police, on September 22, 2018 at approximately 10:00 PM, P.O. Hannigan was on routine patrol on Route 6 conducting business checks when he observed a suspicious vehicle parked at Orange County Pools, 1896 East Main Street. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was occupied by the defendant while the business was closed. PO Hannigan then approached the vehicle and the defendant began to act in a suspicious manner.  After an investigation was conducted, it was discovered that the defendant had an active Bench Warrant out of Chestertown, NY by the New York State Police.  The defendant was placed under arrest and
found to be in possession of a quantity of heroin.  She transported to the Yorktown Police Department for arrest processing.
 
At Police Headquarters, the defendant was processed on the above charge and released on $100.00 cash bail to the New York State Police.  The defendant is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice on October 23, 2018 at 6:00 pm.

TRAFFIC ALERT - Denby Drive Closed Due to Water Main Break

The Yorktown Police Department and Yorktown Water Department would like you to AVOID Denby Drive for the next several hours due to a water main break. Denby Drive is currently closed between Fox Meadow Rd. and Ferris Pl. while Water Department crews work to make the necessary repairs.

DWI Arrest

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 22 year old Mohegan Lake man, who is charged with, Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .18% or More, both unclassified misdemeanors, and Following Too Closely, a traffic infraction.
 
On September 14, 2018 at about 11:19 PM, Yorktown Police received a call of a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles on Route 6 at the intersection of Hill Blvd. PO Beyrer and PO Curtis were dispatched to investigate. Following an investigation, it is alleged that the defendant was driving while in an intoxicated and following too closely. The defendant was arrested at the scene and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing. During processing it is further alleged that the defendant was driving while intoxicated with a BAC of .18 or greater. 
 
The defendant was processed on the above charges and was released on his own recognizance to a responsible party.  The defendant is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on September 27th, 2018 at 6:00 pm.

Peekskill Man Arrested After Traffic Stop

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a twenty-six year old Peekskill man, who is charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, an Unclassified Misdemeanor and Unlicensed Driver, Fail to Obey a Traffic Control Device, Uninspected Motor Vehicle and Following Too Closely, all Traffic Infractions.
 
On September 12, 2018 at about 10:35 am, Officer Curtin was on routine patrol on Route 6 in the area of Mill St.  Officer Curtin conducted a traffic stop after he observed a vehicle that was following too closely and that failed to obey a traffic control device.  Further investigation revealed that the driver was driving without a New York State driver’s license and while his privilege to drive in New York State was suspended.  The vehicle was also found to not have a valid New York State safety inspection.
 
The driver was arrested at the scene and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters.  He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on October 11, 2018 at 6:00 pm.
