Peekskill Man Charged with Possession of a Forged COVID Vaccination Card

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 53-year-old Peekskill man, who is charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, a Class "D" Felony.
 
On February 1, 2022 at 5:11 PM, Yorktown Police received a report from a residential group home located within the Town of Yorktown that an employee, later identified as the defendant, allegedly submitted a forged COVID-19 vaccination card to their Human Resources Department.  Officer Schmelmer responded to the facility and initiated an investigation.  At the completion of the investigation it is alleged that the defendant did knowingly possess a forged COVID-19 vaccination card.  Officer Schmelmer was able to speak with the defendant’s attorney and arranged for the defendant to respond to the Yorktown Police Department.  On February 15, 2022 at 4:03 PM the defendant voluntarily arrived at the Yorktown Police Department and was placed under arrest by Officer Schmelmer.
 
After arrest processing was completed, the defendant was arraigned by the Honorable Judge Raniolo and was released on his own recognizance.  He is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on March 8, 2022 at 6:00 PM.  

Yorktown Man Charged with Obstruction of Breathing, Assault Weapon Possession

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 34 year old Yorktown man, who is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (Assault Weapon), a Class "D" Felony (2 Counts), and Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, a Class "A" Misdemeanor.
 
On 02/11/2022 Yorktown Police responded to a call for an alleged domestic assault.  Upon arrival an investigation was conducted and it is alleged that defendant applied pressure to neck of the victim, obstructing her breathing.  The defendant was arrested and processed on that charge.  He was later arraigned on the charge by the Honorable Judge Raniolo, who issued a Temporary Order of Protection and ordered the surrender of all firearms.  The defendant was released on his own recognizance and due to appear back in Yorktown Court on 02/15/2022. 
 
Officers escorted him to another residence in Yorktown where he surrendered his firearms.  After further investigation it is alleged that two of the firearms are classified as ‘assault weapons’ .  On 02/15/2022 at 1800 hours, upon return to Yorktown Justice Court, the defendant was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd- Assault Rifle.  The Honorable Judge Raniolo arraigned the defendant on the new charges and he was released on his own recognizance and is due back in Yorktown Court on 03/15/2022.
