Yorktown Man Charged with Unlawful Fleeing, Drug Possession After Running from Traffic Stop3/3/2021
Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 21 year old Yorktown man, who is charged with Unlawful Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, both Class “A” Misdemeanors, Reckless Driving, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a Violation, and multiple traffic infractions.
On March 1, 2021 at about 9:40 pm, Officer Hannigan was on patrol on Route 6 when he observed a vehicle allegedly drive onto the shoulder. Officer Hannigan attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the vehicle by activating his lights and sirens, however, the vehicle allegedly did not stop and began fleeing at a high rate of speed while crossing the double yellow line, disregarding a stop sign, and committing several other traffic infractions in a manner that unreasonably endangered other motorists. The vehicle finally came to a stop, at which time Officer Hannigan identified the driver as the defendant. At the conclusion of an investigation at the scene, it is further alleged that the defendant was in possession of a controlled substance and a quantity of marijuana. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing. The defendant was issued multiple traffic tickets, an appearance ticket, and was subsequently released on his own recognizance. The defendant is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on March 18, 2021 at 6:00 pm. Comments are closed.
