On August 1, 2023, Yorktown Police responded to the report of a suspicious incident, where an unknown vehicle was driving around the neighborhood. Officer Pavletich located the vehicle and spoke with the occupants who alleged to be area residents. The passenger produced, what was later learned to be, a fictitious NY driver’s license as proof of her identity. Subsequent investigation revealed the defendant and the driver, who was no longer on scene, were allegedly in the area to intercept a package delivery, containing a bank card in the name of the false NY License. The defendant was arrested on the above charges and brought to YPD headquarters for processing. The vehicle was towed to YPD headquarters pending further investigation. While at headquarters, it was learned the defendant had an out of state warrant from Pennsylvania. Authorities in Pennsylvania requested the defendant be held for extradition as a fugitive from justice. The defendant was arraigned by the Honorable Aviah Cohen-Pierson and would’ve been released on her own recognizance; however, the out of State warrant/fugitive from justice charge required the defendant be remanded to the Westchester County Jail to await extradition. The defendant is due back in the Yorktown Justice Court on September 26, 2023 at 6:00 PM. On July 29, 2023 at 4:44 PM, Yorktown Police received a report of a man in a van dumping a barbeque grill in the woods off the roadway on Mountain Brook Rd. Officer Campion responded to the area and located a van matching the license plate given by the caller and identified the driver as the defendant. Officer Schmelmer responded to the scene to assist. After a DMV check was completed it is alleged that the van had improper license plates on it that belonged to another vehicle and it was unregistered. It is also alleged that the defendant’s view was obstructed by objects inside the vehicle blocking the windows. Furthermore, it is alleged that the defendant obstructed governmental administration by refusing to identify himself and to provide his drivers license, registration and proof of vehicle insurance to the officers in order for them to cite him for the violations of the vehicle and traffic law and that the defendant resisted arrest by physically struggling to pull away from the officers with his body and arms and prevent them from placing him in handcuffs. Further investigation was completed at the scene and it is also alleged that the defendant dumped a barbeque in the woods in violation of the Yorktown Town Code. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to Hudson Valley Hospital for medical treatment and then to the Yorktown Police Department for arrest processing. After arrest processing was completed the defendant was issued an appearance ticket and traffic tickets for the above charges and released on his own recognizance.
