Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 17 year old Brooklyn NY resident who is charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree, a Class “E” Felony.
According to police, on June 8, 2020 at approximately 5:54 pm, Officer Hannigan was on patrol when he observed a vehicle parked on the shoulder of Route 118. Officer Hannigan stopped to check on the operator, who was later identified as the defendant, to see if he needed any assistance. While speaking to the defendant, Officer Hannigan allegedly detected the strong odor of marijuana emanating from within the vehicle. Following an investigation at the scene, it’s alleged that the defendant was operating a motor vehicle while his privilege to do so was suspended and that the vehicle had previously been reported stolen to the New York City Police Department. Additionally, it’s alleged that a quantity of marijuana was recovered from within the vehicle. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to the Yorktown Police Department for processing. Following processing on the charges, the defendant was issued an appearance ticket and released on his own recognizance to the custody of a family member. The defendant is due to appear in the Westchester County Court, Felony Youth Part, on July 16, 2020 at 2:00 pm. Comments are closed.
