Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 21 year old Yonkers, NY resident who is charged with Burglary in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony.
According to police, on November 2, 2019, at approximately 1:05 AM, Officer Houlihan was conducting a routine check of the businesses on Commerce Street when he drove behind the CVS building. He observed a female, later identified as the defendant, standing between a Honda Civic and a storage container with its door open. Officer Houlihan was able to notice that the storage container was filled with boxes that were similar to boxes inside of the Civic. The female then got into the driver seat of the Civic, at which time Officer Houlihan approached her and began speaking to her. After an investigation on scene, it is alleged that the female unlawfully entered the storage container, which belonged to CVS, and removed numerous boxes of merchandise, totaling $747.27, then placed them in her vehicle without permission or authority to do so and without paying for the merchandise. The female was placed under arrest and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing. Following processing at Police Headquarters, the female was arraigned by Judge Lagonia who released her on her own recognizance. She is due in Yorktown Justice Court on November 12, 2019 6:00PM.
