Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 36 year old Putnam Valley man, who is charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, a Class "A" Misdemeanor, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd Degree, an Unclassified Misdemeanor. The defendant was additionally charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Unregistered Motor Vehicle and Uninsured Motor Vehicle, all traffic infractions.
According to police, on August 17, 2020 at approximately 1:59 pm, officers responded to the area of Old Yorktown Road (Route 132) and Strang Boulevard for a report of a motor vehicle accident. An investigation at the scene revealed that the defendant was allegedly driving while ability impaired by drugs and in possession of a quantity of Alprazolam, a controlled substance. It is further alleged that the defendant failed to maintain the proper lane of travel, had an unregistered motor vehicle, had an uninsured motor vehicle and his driving privilege in New York was suspended for failure to pay child support. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to the Yorktown Police Department for arrest processing. The defendant was processed on the above charges and released on his own recognizance to a responsible third party. He is due back in the Yorktown Justice Court on August 27, 2020 at 6:00 pm.
