Yorktown Police report the arrest of two girl Lakeland High School students, both 16 years old and both of Mohegan Lake, who are charged with Falsely Reporting An Incident In The First Degree, a Class D Felony.
According to police on February 1, 2018 at about 10:32 am, Lakeland High School Resource Officer Lawrence Paniccia reported a bomb threat made at Lakeland High School. An investigation conducted by SRO Paniccia and Det. Lewis revealed that at about 9:17 am two 16 year old girls allegedly wrote a bomb threat on the wall in a girl's bathroom at Lakeland High School. As a result of the threat, the school was evacuated and subsequently searched by members of both the Yorktown Police Department and the Westchester County Department of Public Safety Bomb Squad, accompanied by explosive detection canines. The search did not reveal any explosive devices. As a result of the continuing investigation, on February 5th 2018 at about 10:20 am one of the females was arrested by SRO Paniccia outside her Amazon Rd. residence and the other female voluntarily appeared at police headquarters at about 11:45 am. Following processing on the charges, both defendants were arraigned by Judge Lagonia who released them on their own recognizance to their respective parents. Both suspects are scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on February 22, 2018 at 6:00 pm. Comments are closed.
