Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 35 year old Yorktown man, who is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Forgery 2nd Degree, both Class "D" Felonies, and the arrest of a 22 year old Yorktown man, who is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, both Class "D" Felonies.
According to police, on October 19, 2020 at approximately 5:11 pm, Yorktown Police received a report of a larceny. Officer Campion responded to meet with the victim and initiated an investigation. Following an investigation, it is alleged that between July, 2020 and September, 2020 multiple checks belonging to the victim had been stolen and deposited into someone else’s account without the victim’s knowledge. It is further alleged that more than $30,000 had been stolen from the victim. After several weeks of investigation by Officer Campion and Detective Shanahan, two suspects were identified. On December 5, 2020, the defendants responded to the Yorktown Police Department and following further investigation both defendants were placed under arrest. It is alleged that Defendant #1 stole multiple checks from the victim and forged her signature on them and it is alleged that Defendant # 2 possessed the forged checks and deposited the checks into an account. After arrest processing was completed, the defendants were arraigned on the above charges by the Honorable Gary Raniolo and a Temporary Orders of Protection were issued to both defendants on behalf of the victim. Both defendants were released on their own recognizance and are due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on January 14, 2021 at 6:00 pm. Comments are closed.
