Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 28 year old Yorktown, NY resident who is charged with Reckless Driving, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, as well as Fail to Stop for a Stop Sign, Speed in Zone, and Fail to Signal Turn, all Traffic Infractions. The defendant was also charged with numerous additional Traffic Violations.
According to police on July 4, 2019 at about 10:13 PM, Officer Battista was on routine patrol on Lee Blvd when he observed a vehicle allegedly go through a stop sign a the Hill Blvd and Lee Blvd intersection without stopping. Officer Battista attempted to initiate a traffic stop by activating his roof lights however; the vehicle turned onto Strang Blvd allegedly without signaling the turn and allegedly fled from Officer Battista at speeds that allegedly exceeded 100 mph while allegedly unsafeely passing other motorist and allegedly committing numerous additional traffic violations. Officer Battista terminated the pursuit for safety reasons. A subsequent police investigation was able to identify the defendant as the alleged driver of the vehicle. On July 2, 2019 at approximately 8:24 AM the defendant surrendered himself at Yorktown Police Headquarters and was placed under arrest. Following processing on the above charges the defendant was issued an appearance ticket and uniform traffic tickets and released on $600 cash bail. The defendant is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on August 8, 2019 at 6:00 PM. Comments are closed.
