Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 21-year-old Yorktown man, who is charged with Identity Theft Second Degree, a Class “E” Felony, and Petit Larceny, a Class “A” Misdemeanor.
On February 4, 2021 at 3:01 PM, Yorktown Police received a report of a past larceny involving fraudulent transactions on the victim’s CashApp account. Officer Curtis was dispatched to meet with the victim and initiated an investigation into the incident. Following an investigation by Officer Curtis, he was able to identify the defendant as the suspect. Upon further investigation it was determined that the defendant allegedly utilized the victim’s cell phone to access her CashApp account and fraudulently transferred $550.00 out of the victim’s account to a third-party account, without the victim’s permission. It is further alleged that the money was then transferred from the third-party account to the defendant’s personal CashApp account, ultimately resulting in a financial loss to the victim of $550.00. On October 27, 2021 Officer Curtis contacted the defendant and requested he respond to the Yorktown Police Department for further investigation. Following further investigation, the defendant was placed under arrest on the above charges. After arrest processing the defendant was issued an appearance ticket for the above charges and released on his own recognizance. The defendant is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on November 16, 2021 at 6:00 PM. Comments are closed.
