Yorktown Police Department Chief of Police Robert Noble advises motorists that on Thursday, November 23, 2017 (Thanksgiving morning) Senator Terrence Murphy’s office is sponsoring the 1st Annual Turkey Trot Road Race. The race will start on Front Street in front of the Pennysaver building. The race will begin at 8:30 am and the runners route will be as follows:
To provide for the safety of the runners and spectators, the following roadways will be closed from approximately 8:00 am until the conclusion of the race at approximately 9:30 am:
Yorktown Police arrested a 17 year old Mohegan Lake resident who is charged with Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Motor Vehicle Accident, a Class "B" Misdemeanor, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, an Unclassified Misdemeanor.
November 16, 2017 at approximately 6:54 pm, P.O. Caprio observed a motor vehicle accident with injuries where one of the vehicles allegedly left the scene. After further investigation the vehicle and the operator were identified and located. A computer check revealed that the operator was allegedly driving while his New York State driving privileges were suspended. He was placed under arrest and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing. The defendant was processed on the above charges and released on $200.00 cash bail to a parent. He is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on December 14, 2017 at 6:00 pm. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 25 year old Lyons Falls, New York resident who is charged with Assault in the 3rd degree, a Class "A" Misdemeanor.
On November 12, 2017 at about 2:21 am, Yorktown Police officers responded to an altercation at the Yorktown Grille, 347 Downing Drive. Upon arrival, officers met with a victim who had sustained injuries from being punched in the face by another patron at the bar. The officers located the defendant in the parking lot and placed him under arrest. The defendant was transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing. He was arraigned by Yorktown Town Justice Gary Raniolo, who released him on his own recognizance. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on November 21, 2017 at 6:00 pm. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 53 year old Yorktown Heights resident, who is charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .18% or more, both Unclassified Misdemeanors. He is additionally charged with leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident and Failing to Maintain Lane, both Traffic Infractions.
On November 11, 2017 at about 11:30 PM, Yorktown Police received a call for a property damage motor vehicle accident at in front of a Hanover Street residence. The caller reported that the vehicle had left the scene after demolishing a wooden fence. Yorktown Police responded and followed the debris and leaking fluid trail back to the defendant's house down the road. PO Ellsworth found the driver standing by his crashed car and determined that he was driving while intoxicated. it is alleged that the driver of the vehicle was driving while intoxicated. The defendant was arrested and transported back to Yorktown Police Headquarters, where he was further charged with Aggravated DWI (having a Blood Alcohol Content of .18% or more), leaving the scene of a property damage motor vehicle accident and failing to maintain his lane. The defendant was later released on his own recognizance to a responsible party. He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on November 21, 2017 at 6:00 pm. Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 26 year old Mahopac resident, who is charged with Criminal Possesion of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, Possession of Hypoderic Instrument, Both Class "A" Misdemeanors, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd Degree, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, as well as Unlicensed Operation a Traffic Infraction.
On November 2, 2017 P.O. Campion and P.O. Gregorio responded to a property damage automobile crash at East Main Street and Route 6 in Jefferson Valley. Investigation at the scene of the crash revealed that the defendant was driving without a license as well as doing so while having his driving privilege suspended in New York for failing to answer a summons. While the defendant was being placed under arrest, the officers found that he was in possession of heroin and a hypodermic needle. The defendant was transported to Yorktown Police Department where he was processed on the above charges and was released on $100.00 cash bail to a family member. He is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on December 5, 2017 at 6:00 pm for arraignment. |
